THE FIGHT FACTORY

"The MMA lifestyle social network and everything else that's cool"

After many months of hard graft, the FIGHT.IE website is finally ready to launch. Some of you have already had a sneak peek and have been helping us out with the testing, so thank you for that.

There are still a few areas in development but i had to pick a stopping point and deciede which items can be done post-launch and which were essential, these will be very clear.

I shall walk you through the site:

----------------
WWW.FIGHT.IE - the home page
----------------

On the left hand side of this page you will see the login box, along with 3 links below, for "forgot your password", "forgot your username" and "create an account" - all 3 are quite evident what they are for, but the one i want you to use is "create an account"

There are 3 types of account, and some of you may need more than 1 account.

User - this is just a site visitor, gives you access to the whole site to view and the message boards

Club - this is for clubs to register their details (which will appear in the clubs section) and also register their list of fighters (Which will appear in the fighters section) - You can upload pictures of your club, list your class times etc.

Promoter - this is for promoters or clubs who run events to register details of the events (which will appear in the events section) which include full fightcards, results, pictures, videos etc.

You will need a unique username / email address for each account, so if you run both a club and promote an event you will need to get a second email account (i suggest www.gmail.com)

----------------
NEWS
----------------

Irish News - this section will bring you all of the latest home grown mma news. If you have a piece of news you would like to have included please email: newsroom@fight.ie and we will be happy to include.

UK News - all of the latest news from across the water

World News - news from all over the world, including UFC, Strikeforce, K-1 etc...

----------------
BLOGS
----------------

This is one of the under development section, but basically we will have blogs from fighters, clubs, promoters etc to keep you up to date with whats they are doing!

----------------
FIGHTERS
----------------

If you roll your mouse over fighters at the top of the screen you will get a dropdown to select a weight category.

Select a weight category and you will be presented with a list of fighters from that weight category, listed in alphabetical order by forename.

From here you can click on a fighters name to be brought to that fighters profile. You will see full details about the fighter (as updated by his/her club) including fight record, fight history, photos, videos etc.

----------------
CLUBS
----------------

Clicking on the clubs button will take you to a list of the Counties in Ireland. This site is representing the whole Island of Ireland so all 32 counties are listed. Please select the county you wish to view clubs from, then click on the clubs logo.

Inside the clubs page you will find the clubs address, info about the club, arts taught, chief instructor, their class times, contact info, their fight team, photo gallery etc.

----------------
EVENTS
----------------

Clicking on the events will give you a list of upcoming and past events. This is one of the half finished areas, we will be adding an events calander and search functions.

Select the event you wish to view details about and click on its name, inside the event page you will find details on the venue, tickets, fight card, results, photos etc..

If any of the fighters in the fightcard are registered with the site (via their club) you will be able to click on their name to view their profile.

----------------
FORUM
----------------

You all know what a forum is, your on one.

We will appoint moderators shortly.

----------------
SHOP
----------------

Currently in development, will be available soon.

----------------
RANKINGS
----------------

This page is currently blank as we await the list of rankings from the appointed, independent rankings team.

----------------
VIDEO
----------------

This will be available soon, you will be able to view videos posted by clubs, fighters, promoters etc.

Thats about it, if you have any questions, comments or ideas please email them to info@fight.ie

And lastly, enjoy the site.

Great site, really good work im impressed. However I have to question your last statement 'Lets home it helps allin Irish MMA'. Possibly im not picking this up right but its a comment I seen on other forums. Irish MMA has never been in a better position. Greg Loghran fought -and put on his arse-many peoples number 3 lightweight in the world, Colin McKee has racked up something like 7 straight wins many in USA and has appeared on a lot of important peoples radar. Rodney Moore in his last fight (I know hes retired) defeated Jason Jones who this week fought Ninja Rua. Paul McVeigh goes from strength, Davy Patterson continues to churn out figters like Norman Parkes , Kevin McAlonan and Taz McCombe. Andy Ryan has a star in Neil Serry -current Extreme Brawl champion and John Kavanagh has adopted son Gunnar Nelson -who defeated Monson in adcc and Ashling Daly , the best female fighter in the uk. Tom Lamonts Chum Sut has Ali , Daniel , Peter and a host more. Not to mention the excellent Hugh Brady from PHK. As far as the world map Cage Wars has had Monson, Shonie Carter , Jocham Hansen, Rich Clementi, David Bekiliden and Jess Laudin on its roster plus many more who will be appearing that I cant mention. Cage Wars are now generally regarded internationally as the UK scene's strongest player-So how is the scene in diffs? I think that the biggest problem is that there are too many shows, and the levels are too complicated. A, B, C, D level fighters , whats the point? This was tried in Holland, some states in America and Japan and ditched as It didnt work. I have heard of a fighter recently that after 2 months of training was aloud to fight, his only past experience was water polo, and guess what he got KO'd . I dont think that even in amateur boxing you are aloud to fight that soon. There should be MMA league type of events , no head strikes on the ground amateur mma and full rules . That is tried and tested -it works nuff said. There are potentail legal points to allowing someone with only a short experience to fight -but thats a different thread. In short Irish MMA is in the strongest position I have seen it in and as the first person to 1) compete 2) run events , 3) help produce the UK'S biggest show I think I can speak with some authority.
Points to fix -noone should fight with any form of head strikes unless they have a years mma league experience behind them or long term martial arts competition career.
We have to provide , insurance , risk assesment, scematics of the cage, and qualified doctors AND paramedic crash teams to the city council, so should everyone else
Building control , health & safety should be involved from the word go
There you go -ive fixed this so im going to sort out the Copenhagan sumitt

Hi Jonny and firstly thanks for the education, but i am well aware how good the current position of Irish MMA is..... :-)

As for my statement "Lets hope it helps all in Irish MMA" i think you may have taken it up the wrong way. The site is designed to help improve Irish MMA for all,

e.g
1. When fighters are added by their club other coaches can see records etc, this might help reduce mismatches for example, 2.Maybe someone wanting to start MMA will use the clubs list this will bring new members.
3.Promoters can list events in one place, this may bring more tickets sales (which in turn might raise fighters purses)

These are only a few but I hope this clears up my last statement

Enjoy your trip to Copenhagan and Merry Xmas

John, im sorry if I sound preachy-I honestly dont mean to be. I am however so proud and passionate about what Irish mma has achieved and WILL achieve. One thing I hope your site will bring will be more cross border audiences I think this would be a real boost all over. A data base like what you are proposing is an excellent idea-Im currently about to start work on a uk and international one -
I think I may have taken your statement in a bit too narrow sense so for that I apolgise

and merry christmas to you

Man with genitals in pipe

A man who went to casualty with his penis stuck in a steel pipe had to be cut free by firefighters using a metal grinder.
Medics at Southampton General Hospital could not get the man's penis out of the stainless steel pipe because the restricted blood flow had caused it to become aroused, so they called in Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.
They turned up with a special equipment unit from St Mary's station in Southampton and seven firefighters to help in what a spokesman said was a "delicate operation". The firefighters used the four-and-a-half-inch grinder to cut the pipe from around the man's penis and it took about 30 minutes. The patient was given an anaesthetic and his penis was left bruised and swollen but otherwise unharmed. The anxious man, aged about 40, gave hospital staff no explanation about how the pipe got stuck after he turned up on Tuesday morning. A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Initially the crew did not have the appropriate cutting equipment to free the man. "It was a very delicate operation that required a very steady hand and the crew was worried about things getting too hot during the cutting. "It's certainly an unusual call-out and I'm sure the man won't be getting into that situation again."

Really...seriously?
